Economical 5-1/2 Digit Digital Multimeters

Saelig Company, Inc. , now has available the Rigol DM858/DM858E Digital Multimeter Series, which provides cost-effective benchtop test measurement capabilities for electronics technicians.

They feature 5.5-digit resolution, a maximum of 125/80 readings/s, a data logging memory of 500,000/20,000 points, and 0.03%/0.06% DCV accuracy (one year).

Eleven measurement functions are available for input signals, including DCV, DCI, ACV, two-/four-wire resistance, frequency, period, continuity, diode, capacitance, and sensor measurements, as well as five math operations and three graphical display types.

The gesture-sensing 7’’ capacitive color touch screen allows a dual display of measurement results which can also be seen as trend plots, histograms, and bar charts. Fine-Adjust Step-Down Voltage Regular

The D30V3x line of synchronous buck (step-down) voltage regulators now available from Pololu generates lower output voltages from input voltages as high as 45V. These are switching regulators (also called switched-mode power supplies [SMPS] or DC-to-DC converters) which makes them much more efficient than linear voltage regulators, especially when the difference between the input and output voltage is large.

These regulators can typically support continuous output currents between 1A and 4A, depending on the input voltage and output voltage. In general, the available output current decreases as the input and output voltages increase.

This line consists of the D30V30Fx family of fixed output voltages ranging from 3.3V to 15V, and two families of adjustable versions that allow the output voltage to be set with a precision 11-turn potentiometer.

Each adjustable option is available with or without an adjustable low-voltage cutoff (also set through a precision 11-turn potentiometer on the versions that have it).

The adjustable families are the D30V30MAx, which is the more compact of the two thanks to its double-sided assembly, and the D30V33MAx, which includes larger through-holes for terminal blocks and can do slightly more current thanks to its larger surface area. Single unit pricing starts at $17.95.
