automatica 2022 Right On Track

ADVETORIAL

The indicators for automatica 2022 -- which will take place in Munich, Germany from June 21 to 24 -- are very positive. All industry leaders have already applied by now.  The event will have a focus on innovations and products related to the established topics of Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Man and Machine, and is complemented by Sustainable Production.

As the world’s leading trade fair for Smart Automation and Robotics, automatica welcomed approximately 45,500 visitors and 890 exhibitors to the last show in 2018. automatica 2022 will be returning to the Messe Munich Exhibition Center as an in-person trade show.

While the world is steadily changing and digitalization undergoes a constant transition as well as constant development, the significance of automation and robotics is increasing rapidly. automatica 2022 will be a meeting point for all key technologies and give a platform to exhibitors and visitors to discuss innovative products and current trends in the field of robotics and automation. This year’s show is mostly dedicated to energy efficiency and the conservation of resources and will give an insight into resource-saving production technologies.

A high level of automation is already recognizable in the automotive and transportation industries. Cars are being designed to be more energy-efficient and CO₂-neutral than ever before. But what contribution can automation make to producing at least as well and just as much with less energy and resources? And not just in the automotive industry, but also in other industries?

Answers and solutions to such questions as well as interesting insights into current projects will be given at the trade show through a variety of pitch and presentation formats. Examples are the Munich high-tech summit on June 22, 2022, the ISR Europe 2022, or the new presentation concept Vision Expert Huddles, which will premiere in the Machine Vision Pavilion at automatica 2022.

Apart from that, this year’s automatica comes at the “perfect point in time” as the industry continues to grow. Frank Konrad, CEO of HAHN Automation, says: “Our industry is on the upswing. Due to the pandemic, companies have postponed investments in robotics and automation, and now have a huge backlog. “At the same time, new business is boosted by the topics of climate neutrality and sustainable use of resources.”

So, this entire topic could hardly be more exciting and holds enormous potential in many respects. This is where automatica in June 2022 comes in: In Munich, visitors will learn how digital transformation will change automated production in the years to come.

Among others, Cobots (collaborative robots) from international low-cost to high-end manufacturers including Comau, Denso, Doosan, Franka Emika, Kassow, Omron, Rethink, Stäubli, Techman, and many more will be showcased for all kinds of applications. In addition, Germany's most valuable robotics start-up Agile Robots will also be exhibiting at automatica. The latest developments of this company are highly anticipated—not just by major investors.

The market for cobots is currently seeing considerable growth. By its own account, industry leader Universal Robots already deploys more than 50,000 cobots in all kinds of applications. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that many manufacturers are currently discovering their love for cobots. While some qualify their standard robots for direct human-robot interaction by integrating numerous safety features, others focus on the development of special lightweight robots. Visitors to automatica in Munich can see the advantages and disadvantages of both worlds for themselves. However, the hype is clearly on lightweight cobots. Here, competition between established manufacturers and start-ups leads to unprecedented dynamics.

While the use of cobots may not be common, Epson and many other robot manufacturers will come to Munich to present a no-code programming environment for robotics beginners with little or no expertise. It enables quick and easy operation of the manufacturer’s four-axis robots.

In six exhibition halls with a total of 66,000 square meters, the leading manufacturers in the sector for smart automation and robotics present their products and services
